摘要:Keyword : STRUCTURAL, EQUIVALENCE, IT-PATTERNSABSTRACT :This research aims at describing structural equivalence of English It-Patternswhich consist of Delayed Subject Pattern (DSP) and Divided Clause Pattern(DCP) into Indonesian by using English Novel namely, Five Days in Paris byDanielle Steel, and its Indonesian translation version namely Lima Hari diParis by L. Ratnayanti as the data source. In arranging this research paper, theresearcher uses a qualitative descriptive method. The researcher takes allit-patterns in the English novel and finds their structural equivalence in theIndonesian version of the novel. The patterns are classified into two main typesnamely, DSP and DCP. DSP is classified into four categories; the categories areclassified into nine patterns and the nine patterns are translated into twenty-twopatterns in the target language. DCP is classified into three categories; thecategories are classified into three patterns; the three patterns are translated intoeight patterns in the target language. The result shows that DSP is translated intotwenty-two patterns in Indonesian and DCP is translated into eight patterns inIndonesian. Though the structural equivalence are various, generally the way oftranslating it-pattern into Indonesian, whether it is in the form of DSP or DCP,are almost the same. All of them are translated into Indonesians by omitting thetwo components of the pattern namely, the component It and be.
