  • 摘要:In this study, âThe Translation of If in English Conditional Sentences intoIndonesian,â the writer wishes to find out the translation of if in Englishconditional sentences into Indonesian in type 1, type 2, and type 3 in thetranslation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling translatedby Listiana Srisanti. The purpose of the research is to describe how thetranslation of if in English conditional sentences into Indonesian in type 1,type 2, and type 3 are in the mentioned novel. The method used in this study isqualitative method. Data analysis consisted of data classification, datainterpretation, and data presentation. The result shows that there are six ways intranslating the English word if in conditional sentences into Indonesian i.e.jika, kalau, kalau saja, seandainya, seandainya saja, and not translated orzero translation. The English word if in conditional sentences type 1 istranslated into jika (14 or 45, 16%), kalau (16 or 51,61%), and not translatedor zero translation (1 or 3,22%). The English word if in conditional sentencestype 2 is translated into jika (8 or 38,09%), kalau (12 or 57,14%), andseandainya (1 or 4,76%). The English word if in conditional sentences type3 is translated into jika (4 or 44,44%), kalau (2 or 22,22%), kalau saja (1 or11,11%), seandainya (1 or 11,11%), and seandainya saja (1 or 11,11%). Toconclude, the word kalau is the most frequently used in the translation of theEnglish word if in conditional sentences into Indonesian.
