摘要：English is an international language and it is used in most of the countries in thisworld , including in Indonesia. Nowadays , English becomes our secondlanguages besides our own native language and also used as our daily language.English is taught at all levels of education. In this research the writer observedthe elementary student. The writer chooses Alakta Education Centre as the fieldof study , because the writer would like to describe the kind of teaching methodof English teaching and to know the kinds of the material used in elementaryschool . The method of teaching English in the regular preparatory class ( firstand second grades elementary students ) in the Alakta English Course Depok aredirect method and total physical response . The book that is used is“Special English For Children. The materials are given to regularpreparatory class are greetings, parts of body, fruit, animal, alphabet, number,color, room, things, etc. The writer applied qualitative approach. The writer didobservation at Alakta Education Centre , and interviewed the teacher. The writeranalyzed the data according to the theories have been collected the last , thewriter draws conclusion.
