摘要：keyword: TRANSLATION STUDY, TWO KINDS, LEAF AND LOAFABSTRACT :Short story is fun and nice story. This short story is suitable for all ages especially for students. To translate English short story is not easy. Thetranslator must understand the grammatical structure and idiomatic expressionand the writer need to open grammar book and idiomatic dictionary. The writertried to apply meaning based for this research paper. It is to enable to producenatural meaning. English short stories, as the source language into Indonesianlanguage, as target language the translation of Two kinds and Leaf andLoaf are interesting short stories, because they tell us about the struggle andadventure. Amy Tans mother wants her to become a successful person, butAmy Tan doesnt want her mother change her self. She wants to be her- self. Second short story narrates a son and a father enjoyed Embarcaderosatmosphere and all ships that come from other world. After reading andtranslating Two kinds and Leaf and Loaf the writer concludes that thesestories were really interesting, though some problems emerge such are:grammatical structures and idiomatic expressions. Every problem has thesolutions and to solve the problem first the writer reads the source language andunderstands in written language, after that writer uses the dictionary ofidiomatic expression and open the grammar book.
