  • 摘要:One of the most challenging problems in both speaking and writing is to useappropriate collocation. Collocation is the two words or more which are linkedtogether in appropriate for the patterns and naturally used by the native speakersin written and oral language. Usually, the collocation errors happen when theforeign learners are trying to translate the Indonesian language (SL) to theEnglish language (TL). The interference of the learnerâs mother tongue hasaffected the translations into words per words. The aims of the study are 1) tofind out the negative transfers of English collocations that students make, 2) tofind out the category of the negative transfers of English collocations accordingto the Lexical Collocation Category. The method in this analysis is using theseven categories by BBI Combinatory Dictionary of English. From 24 writingassignments of Gunadarma Universityâs Students, the writer identified 59negative transfers of lexical collocations which are classified into six categorieswhich include L1 Verb (Creation + Activation) + Noun have 32 (54.24%)negative transfers, L3 (Adjective + Noun) have 11 (18.64%) negative transfers,L4 (Noun + Verb) have 3 (5.08%) negative transfers, L5 (N1 + N2) have 8(13.56%) negative transfers, L6 (Adverb + Adjective) have 3 (5.08%) negativetransfers, and L7 (Verb + Adverb) have 1 (1.69%) negative transfers.
