  • 摘要:Keyword : SURVEY, TRANSLATION, GESTURE ABSTRACT : In this research, the problems are what is the tendency made by the fourth year students in translating gesture with non-verbal communication and what are the students reasons in choosing the tendency. The aims of why the writer conducted a research about this is because the writer would like to find out the tendency which is made by fourth year students in translating gesture with non-verbal communication and to find out the students reasons in choosing the tendency. In arranging this research paper, the writer used a quantitative research, which is to find out the percentage of the tendency in translating gesture with non-verbal communication and use a survey to find out the percentage of it. The results of this research are the tendency which is made by fourth year students in translating gesture with non-verbal communication is implicitly and the students reasons in choosing implicit gesture implicitly because reason c: the readers can still understand the meaning of intended gesture with the percentage of 31,2%, reason d: Indonesian language system allows a meaning to be expressed by gesture with the percentage of 27,5%, reason b: the intended meaning of this gesture has the same meaning in Indonesian with the percentage of 26,9%, reason a: this translation doesnt ruin the intended meaning of the source text gesture with the percentage of 13,1%, reason e: others with the percentage of 1,3%. From the degree of the percentage above we can see that the highest reasons which are chosen are reason c (31,2%) and followed by reason d (27,5%). Both of those reasons indicate that the students are familiar and comprehensible about the meaning of intended gesture so that they translate implicit meaning of gesture with non-verbal communication implicitly.
