  • 摘要:ABSTRACT :Translation is one of ways to learn English. The process of translation isdifficult. A translator must have good ability in using the vocabularies toexpress the meaning from source language into target language. Besides, thetranslator must apply some techniques of translation and use the procedures oftranslation in obtaining good translation. The writer translates two articles aboutdiabetes disease entitled Type 2 Diabetes: Living With the Disease andType 2 Diabetes: Children Living With the Disease written by MarianneFlagg to develop her English vocabularies and to train translation ability.Besides, she wants to help the readers to get further information about thedisease. The aims of writing this paper are to solve the problems which appearin translating and to describe the differences and the similarities between sourcelanguage and target language. The kind of translation which is used in thispaper is free translation, and the procedures which are used are transposition, modulation, and omission. The writer found some problems in translating thetext. One of the problems is situational context; the writer must choose the rightwords to translate words you and buttock into Indonesian which can beaccepted to the readers. Another problem is in form and meaning; the wordsdevelops, health professional, spreads, allows, meet, poorly controlled can notbe translated lexically. To solve the problems above, the writer translates wordsAnda, you; bokong, buttock; timbul, develops; dokter; healthprofesional; mengatur, spreads; memenuhi, meet; tidak terkontrol, poorlycontrolled. The conclusions are that there are differences and similaritiesbetween source language and target language in form of language, part ofspeech, and even in term of lexical meaning
