摘要：ABSTRACT :English is very important to be learned by many people in the world especiallyfor Indonesian people where they do not speak it in their daily life. Today,English has become a second language by most of people. It is also used inmany aspects such as in the Economic, politic, social, culture, and mainly inEducation. The aims of the study are to explain about the kinds of teachingmethod that are used and the writer also would like to describe the difficultiesencountered by the lecturer in teaching English in the first year students on theFaculty of Computer Science (1KB02) at Gunadarma University. To get thespecific data, the writer uses two kinds of methods, which are field research(observation and interview with the lecturer of 1KB02 at GunadarmaUniversity) and library research (search and read the books and resources to getmore specific and complete data to shove this research paper). The methods ofteaching English that applied at the Faculty of Computer Science (1KB02) atGunadarma University are direct method and communicative method. Thedifficulties that encountered by the lecturer are the amount of the class that istoo many, and the ability of the students that is not the same. The result from theresearch at Gunadarma University with those methods are available to used forstudents of (1KB02) because the materials will be easier to be understood by thestudents.
