摘要:The word ‘that’ is a single word which hasmore than one function. It can function asa demonstrative pronoun or determinerwhich points to things, people or situations.It can also functions a a conjunction usedin a noun clause. The word ‘that’ is alsoused as a relative pronoun in an adjectiveclause. ‘What are the equivalents of theword ‘that’ with its different functions intoIndonesian’ is the problem of thisscientific research. Based on the problem,the aim is to find out the equivalents of theword ‘that’ in the Indonesian terms. In thisresearch, the writer uses descriptivequalitative method. The method coverscollecting, arranging, classifying,analyzing and interpreting the data. All ofthe data were taken from a novel byAgatha Christie entitled ‘Appointment withDeath’. The result of the research showsthat there are six classifications ofequivalents of the word ‘that’ in terms ofthe function as demonstrative pronoun ordeterminer into Indonesian, they are: ‘itu’,‘itulah’, ‘begitu’, suffix ‘-nya’, ‘ini’, andnil translation. As conjunction, theequivalents of the word ‘that’ are ‘bahwa’and nil translation. The equivalent of theword ‘that’ as relative pronoun is the word‘yang’ There are also other equivalents ofthe word ‘that’ into Indonesian, such as‘lagi’, ‘agar’, and ‘bila’.\\
