摘要:Key Word : stress, adopting, student accelerationABSTRACT :Along with the development is now entering the era of globalization where theflow of information flow so rapidly from a variety of media and followed by thedevelopment of increasingly sophisticated technology, the need for educationthat can accommodate aspects of intelligence and optimize human resourcepotential needed to answer the challenges of life increasinglycomplex. Provision of educational services should begin to update to fit thetalents possessed by each person. This means that every individual should havethe opportunity to be able to develop their talents are not the same. Thus, theeducation must provide equal opportunities to every individual (Hawadi,Wiharjo, & Wiyono, 2001). To serve students who have more potential itneeded a special program faster or more extensive than the regularprogram. "Faster" can mean that students will be able to complete the regularprogram in a relatively shorter. Accelerated learning program is commonlyknown as with an accelerated program. However, in this accelerated programthrough a variety of negative impacts that could arise in which studentslived. This is for instance caused by the social and emotional aspects of theschool or by the demands of academic and cognitive demands, has the potentialto cause stress on the accelerated program students. Stress is a condition ofdepressed, experienced individuals because of the threatening situation anddemands, which come from outside or from within the individual considered assomething that can not be overcome. Then according Santrock (in Suntari,1997), in general, adolescents when faced stressful situations to use more thanone kind of coping strategies at the same time. They are also usually not awareof coping strategies used. Based on the above mentioned authors are interestedin doing an exploratory study to gain insight about stress and coping behaviorsof high school students who follow or become accelerated learning programparticipants (acceleration). Subjects in this study amounted to one man plus oneother significant subjects. The approach used in research in this research isqualitative approach, where it is used in observation and interviewmethods. Observations made at the time the subject is in school. And interviewsheld in place by the subject and agreed by writer, which previously made theobservation and interview guides in advance by the author. Based on the resultsof research by the author, it is known that in undergoing this acceleratedprogram, subjects exposed to various kinds of pressures that make the subjectexperienced symptoms of stress and other stressful things.
