摘要：Key Word : husband, anxiety, birth, first child, descriptionABSTRACT :Anxiety is a normal companion in our lives everyday, from the change or theexperience something new and untried. Anxiety can be interpreted also as anemotional state or condition that is not pleasant, experienced by a person uponentering a new situation that has not been recognized, characterized bysubjective feelings of tension, fear of something that will happen, anxiety, andfear that is accompanied by active, or the rise of the autonomic nervous system.This study aims to gain in-depth description of the anxiety experienced by ahusband in the face of the first child birth and what causes a husband haveanxiety when faced with the birth of first child. This research was conducted byusing a qualitative approach in the form of case studies, the retrieval of data inthis study using the method of observation and interviews. Interview methodused in this study uses interviews with the general guidelines and usingobservational methods involved. Subjects in this study was a husband of 25years old to 30 years who have pregnant wives 9 (nine) months to give birth totheir first child. Based on the results of data analysis controlling can be obtaineda conclusion, the subjects , and it can be said that the level of anxietyexperienced by the subject is high, because the subjects showed Characteristicsor anxiety symptoms such as a) a physiological subject experienced a coldsweat , headaches, experiencing shortness of breath, the body was trembling allof a sudden, and feel itchy around his limbs, b) is psychologically marked by achange of emotion, experiencing anxiety, and experience a sense of tension, c)subjects experienced cognitive difficulty in concentrating. In addition to knownsubjects experienced anxiety when faced with the birth of first child caused bya) the factors of genetic heir, has the nature of the subject (in heredity) as beingeasy to worry when faced with situations considered stressful, b) factors of themind thoughts, assumptions and errors the process of cognition, where thesubject has a fear of childbirth is done by Caesarean section, because the subjectof obtaining information that the birth process is carried out by Caesareansection have a very high risk, c) emotional sensitivity factor, where the subject isalways was worried when facing new situations and considered stressful, likewhen this is a new experience will be passed by the subject and pretend as astressful situation. The statement does not match the description of the subjectwith the other significant factors revealed the cause of the anxiety the subject,namely: a) factors of physical problems, which the subject feels his physicalstamina in prime condition before the birth of his wife, while according to othersignificant physical stamina subject declined because the subject is less a break,and b) factors of mental trauma, where the subjects had the unpleasantexperience while accompanying her brother in the hospital awaiting the birth offirst child, while according to other significant experience ever passed by thesubject does not cause psychological problems for themselves subject. Inaddition, there are several factors that affect the subject of anxiety when facedwith the birth of first child. It can be known based on the explanation Sumapraja(1990), which states that there are three factors that can affect the anxiety of ahusband in the face of pregnancy and delivery wife, namely the physicalreadiness factors, psychological mental readiness, and readiness of thesocio-economic factors. Based on the explanation Sumapraja (1990), it is knownthat subjects experienced anxiety when faced with the birth of first child'sreadiness is influenced by physical, namely: unpreparedness subject to carryingout its role as a parent (the father). The subject assumes that he will not be ableto educate and raise their children well, while other significant assume that thesubject has the ability to educate and raise their children well, although theeducational background of the subject only high school graduates.
