摘要:Key Word : wife, depression, domestic violence, husbandABSTRACT :This study aims to determine how the image of domestic violence experiencedby the subject, why domestic violence occurs in families subject, how imagesdepression in wives who experienced domestic violence and also how theoccurrence of depression in wives who experienced domestic violence. Acts ofviolence committed by a husband against his wife in the household referred to asdomestic violence (domestic violence). Domestic violence is defined byHasbianto (1996) as a form of physical abuse or emotional or psychological,which is a way of controlling their partners in domestic life. Depression has ameaning different. Depression can be a symptom ( "I feel sad"), signs ("expression on his face seemed glum"), or disorders which can bediagnosed. Diagnosis of depression is put as a disturbance that lasted longenough symptoms and signs specific to substantially disrupt the fairness of theattitudes and actions of a person or a cause of profound sadness, and can alsoboth (According to Greist & Jefferson, 1987 ). Impact of violence perpetrated onthe wife's husband is about psychological and mental wife will make the wifesuffered stress and depression which, of course, correlated to physical illnessessuch as headaches, asthma, abdominal pain, and others. Stress and depressioncan lead to the possibility of suicide or killing husbands who commit violence(cicik, 1999). Subjects in this study is a wife who experienced domestic violence(domestic violence), having children that became a benchmark why the subjectstill survive in his household. Factor for violence is the patriarchal cultural factors, the wronginterpretation of religious teachings and influence of role models is also habithusband.
