摘要:The design block in UBC’s new integrated second year curriculum is taught using a team-based learning approach in which students work in teams of six or seven. The course is composed of six modules, each comprised of a reading assignment, a readiness quiz, ~5 tutorials and ~12 class hours. Much of the class time is devoted to extended assignments through which students integrate their knowledge, apply their skills, and make judgments which they then defend in class. We have found that designing appropriate and effective assignments has been one of the most difficult aspects of TBL for us to master. In this paper, we present examples of what we have tried over the past two years and assess their strengths and weaknesses.
