摘要:The Brazilian sugarcane ethanol is highlighted as a clean, renewable and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. This product has gained international visibility because of its environmental, economic and social advantages, which allowed it to reach the world market. The objective of the present study was to identify which measures have been taken by Brazil, including public and entrepreneurial strategies, private sector entities and research centres, to promote the internationalisation of Brazilian sugarcane ethanol. The systemic methodology used for analysis, the so-called soft system methodology, has enabled the presentation of the current situation and challenges of sugarcane ethanol internationalisation by which Brazil might use its ethanol as a source of international competitive advantage and assume the leadership in the production and trade of biofuels as well.
