摘要:This study explores the relationships between the superiors’ bases of power on satisfaction with supervision in industrial settings. The moderating effect of work autonomy on the afore-mentioned relationship is also investigated. Data from 210 technical staff of manufacturing companies showed that supervision of industrial people is most acceptable through the exercise of referent and expert power bases. Among the power bases, the expert and referent were directly related to the satisfaction with supervision. Work autonomy by itself is not directly related to the satisfaction with supervision but it serves to moderate the relationship between referent power and the subordinate’s satisfaction. The model may provide a means for accounting for the sometimes inconsistent findings in research exploring the relationship between autonomy and outcomes.
