摘要:T here is a great divide in the United States. Land in the East is mostly privately owned, while nearly half of the land in the West is under federal control. In recent years, several states have considered resolutions demanding that the federal government transfer some of thisland to state ownership—specifcally, millions of acres of multiple-use lands managed by theForest Service and Bureau of Land Management. These efforts are motivated by concerns overrestrictions on natural resource development, land management practices, limitations on certainforms of access, and low fnancial returns to neighboring communities.
