摘要：The article analyzes gaps and challenges for emerging economies of Latin America concerning the progress made in technology management (TM), in comparison with other contexts. Through literature analysis and scientometrics the evolution of TM and research trends were established in developed and Latin American countries. Results show that TM in industrialized countries has gone through three stages, the last of which is characterized by knowledgemanagement, where integrative methodologies are used and leading teams are found in the USA and the UK. In Latin America, four stages of evolution were identifi ed and similar trends to those of the developed nations were found, especially in knowledge and innovation management. The gaps identifi ed in Latin America, including a late arrival of I&D units and a poor integration of technology with corporative strategies, show that even though development in the region is recent , it concentrate s on vital topics such as networks and cooperation. On the other hand, challenges point out that Latin America can be strengthened by means of innovative methodologies such as technological roadmapping enabling the region to go beyond its frontiers.
