摘要:After several decades of research, the development of an effective feature extraction method for textureclassification is still an ongoing effort. Therefore , several techniques have been proposed to resolve suchproblems. In this paper a novel composite texture classification method based on innovative pre-processingtechniques, skeletonization and Regional moments (RM) is proposed. This proposed texture classificationapproach, takes into account the ambiguity brought in by noise and the different caption and digitizationprocesses. To offer better classification rate, innovative pre-processing methods are applied on varioustexture images first. Pre-processing mechanisms describe various methods of converting a grey level imageinto binary image with minimal consideration of the noise model. Then shape features are evaluated usingRM on the proposed Morphological Skeleton (MS) method by suitable numerical characterizationmeasures for a precise classification. This texture classification study using MS and RM has given a goodperformance. Good classification result is achieved from a single region moment RM10 while others failedin classification.
