摘要：Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII el desplazamiento de la residencia real al Buen Retiro arrastró a la aristocracia hacia la zona de los Prados, y trastocó la imagen urbana de Madrid. A partir de aquí, el entorno de la calle Mayor sufrió distintas transformaciones en sus funciones y en su imagen, que pudieron haber sido mucho más profundas de haberse cumplido algunos los proyectos ideados y no realizados.
