Abstract The objectives of this study referring to the older population of the province of Guadalajara sought to provide evidence about the relationship between the medical recommendation of physical activity, type of demand and demographic variables. A cross-sectional study has been made with a sample of 989 people of this population. The sampling was multistage and applied a structured questionnaire. The results show a significant relationship between the medical recommendation of physical activity with the following variables: type of demand [χ2 (2) = 31.649; p < .001; Φ = .18]; gender [χ2 (1) = 5.397; p = .020; Φ = -.08], and social class [χ2 (2)= 6.435; p = .040; Φ = .08]. No relationship was found with age. These findings suggest that one of the means of increasing physical activity practitioners in this population are the specific actions of physical activity recommendation of medical staff. Key words : physical activity; oldness, medical recommendation; demand. doi:10.5232/ricyde2011.02302 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Referencias/references Lobelo, F.; Duperly, J., y Frank, E.
