摘要:This article attempts to examine critically the image that contemporary historiography has built around the figure of Captain Miguel Caldera. In contrast, it shows aspects that bring us closer to his Hispanic identity, to his role as a member of the militia in the service of Philip II of Spain and to the part he played as an instrument of domination and in the disappearance of the nomads of the Chichimecan frontier. It also contributes to the discussion of frontier cultural development in the context of the Hispanic monarchy’s expansion in the 16 th century.
