摘要：The main line of investigation on this paper is the place of the Puerto Rican Magazine in the history of local journalism and the group of West Indian and Latin American intellectuals who were part of it. The purpose is to highlight its purposes and internal organization; the tools used in the design and typesetting, and artistic and literary influences. It is thought that these were the conditions of the press in Puerto Rico in the last three decades of the nineteenth century and the cultural impact of the magazine in its social environment and outside the island territory. Finally, the ties and networks the reformist liberal intellectuals belonged to through the Puerto Rican Magazine as part of the centenary, prior to the flowering of Spanish American thought are analyzed.
