摘要：Tucumán, Argentina, siglos XIX y XX, azúcar, mercado, Estado nacional, finanzas, This article analyzes the origin and consolidation of the sugar industry in Tucumán between 1860 and 1914. This evolutionary approach facilitates the analysis of the Argentinian export economy from an unusual perspective, namely the building of the domestic market, and the development of a sector which was not oriented to the export trade, in a province other than Buenos Aires or la Pampa. It is contended that both aspects were intimately related, since the export boom helped to consolidate a national State which favoured the expansion of the Tucuman sugar industry through reailroad construction, finance aid and tariff protection.
