摘要:Lineaments are surface manifestations of structurally controlled features, such as joints, fractures, folds, faults, straight course of streams and vegetation alignment. Through the use of geology map, satellite image together with a digital elevation mode land consequently analysis of lineaments for the study area indicates that the direction of lineaments tends to lie in NE-SW direction and this can be seen from the rose diagram for the direction of lineaments. The lineaments were identified to be of different lengths ranging from 1.7 km to 6.2 km which connotes the short range of the linear features which will in turn shows the low to medium level of percolation except for those areas where the density of the lineaments is high, i.e. swamps. Also comparison of the lineaments with the drainage map of the area shows that the direction of lineaments is inclined towards the direction of the tributaries and valleys (swampy areas) which suggests that the direction of aquifers mostly tends to be aligned with the surface water bodies and the runoff from the points of lineaments is towards the direction of the valleys and that is why all the wells located along or near lineament terraces are found to be highly productive.
