摘要:A fundamental study was carried out to explore the properties of coniferous needles with regards to pulp and paper production. In this study the chemical composition and physical strength properties were investigated. The chemical properties analysis indicated that ash, alcohol benzene solubility, hot water solubility, 1% sodium hydroxide solubility, lignin and hollocellulose carried the value of 3.89, 4.41, 10.30, 23.74, 24.40 and 63.52, respectively. The physical strength properties of standard sheets of 60 gsm of beaten pulp at 8% alkaline peroxide pulping were as tensile strength (42.52 Nm/g), tear index (7.27 mN.m~2 /g), burst index (2.37 kpa m~2 /g), double fold number (1306), porosity (32 mL/m) and opacity (90.54%). The corresponding values of those standard sheets where no chemical was added were 19.02 Nm/g, 2.89 mNm~2 /g, 1.11 kpa m~2 /g, 59 mL/m and 85.12%, respectively. The over all results showed that coniferous needles has a promising potential to be used in pulp and paper production as it can be well suited for better grades of paper as well as cheap grades of paper and board.
