摘要:Chromium has been widely used in large numbers of industries, and its two environmentally stable oxidation states Cr(VI) and Cr(III) exhibit very different toxicities and mobilities. Cr(VI) is toxic, carcinogenic, and highly mobile in aquatic environments, whereas Cr(III) is much less toxic and mobile, and precipitates at neutral or basic pH. Cr(VI) is a priority pollutant in the USA and many other countries, and reduction and removal of Cr(VI) in environment is crucial to protect human health and environment. Numerous studies have been carried out to look for high efficient and low-cost methods for reduction and removal of Cr(VI). This paper summarizes current knowledge on the reduction and adsorption of Cr(VI). In addition, analytical methods for the determination of Cr(VI) are also covered.
