摘要:The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of a 4-wk program of resistance exercise on the weight of the heart and the ventricles of rats that received dexamethasone. Forty male Wistar rats were selected and divided into four groups. The dexamethasone training group (DTG) and the training group (TG) performed the resistance exercise protocol 3 times•week~(-1) , 10 reps with 60-sec intervals at 75% intensity of the previously determined 1RM test for 30 days under the influence of 0.2 mg•kg~(-1) •day~(-1) dexamethasone and 0.9% saline, respectively. The dexamethasone sedentary group (DSG) and the sedentary group (SG) that received saline solution (0.9%) intraperitoneally. There was no statistical difference (P>0.05) in absolute heart weight between the SG, TG, DSG, and DTG groups. The results indicate that the resistance exercise associated with the use of dexamethasone did not result in a significant change in the mass of the left and right ventricles or the absolute weight of the heart.
