摘要：The foundation of the Franciscan friary at Valladolid, Spain, was a long process, which started in the 1220s with a provisional settlement of friars outside the town, at Rio de Olmos, and finished in 1275, when a new convent was built in the vicinity of Valladolid. We try to establish the relationship between this foundation and the broader process of establishment of Franciscan friaries throughout Europe in the 13th century. We also consider the role that the foundation of the Valladolid convent could play in the settlement strategy of the Friars Minor in the Iberian Peninsula.
