摘要：This paper examines the main expert systems used in descriptive cataloguing. These investigations have developed three types of systems: advisory programs, systems to create bibliographic records and systems to carry out original cataloguing. After analysing their features and problems, we conclude that the number and complexity of the rules of a cataloguing code make difficult to incorporate them into the knowledge base of an expert system.
