摘要：Many Genoese banking companies worked in Castile between 1600 and 1640. All of them had common features that deserve to be studied. The organization of these companies and their strategies for developing their commercial and financial businesses were both essential elements in their success. Although many contemporaries accused the Genoese bankers of receiving privileges from the Spanish Monarchy, or behaving as monopolies, the truth is that these companies were very competitive. The organization of these companies in networks, offering their agents a great autonomy, explains their success in Castile for decades, but in the long term it was also their weakness.
