摘要：This study aimed to gain insight intohealthcare professionals’ perceptionsof coordination between levels of carein two municipalities in the State ofPernambuco, Brazil. A qualitative studywas conducted consisting of in-depthinterviews with 51 professionals workingin primary care (PC) and secondary care(SC) regarding clinical management andthe factors affecting its implementation.The results show that, despite a lack ofunderstanding of the term coordinationacross levels of care, the importanceof and efforts focused on this area arerecognized. Lack of communicationbetween PC and SC is viewed as thecause and consequence of problems thathamper the successful implementation ofclinical governance across the dimensionsof follow-up care, accessibility, andconsistency in care delivery. Initiatives toimprove communication between PC andSC professionals in order of promotingmutual knowledge, strenghten professionalqualification and joint management ofcases were not observed.
