标题:CHARACTERIZATION OF FERULIC ACID REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION BY H2O2-MODIFIED HYDROTHERMAL BIOCHAR PRODUCED FROM CHRYSANTHEMUM MORIFOLIUM RAMAT. CV. CHUJU
摘要:Biochar (BC) produced from Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat. cv. Chuju biomass through hydrothermal carbonization was activated with 20% H2O2 (ABC) for use as an adsorbent. The ability of ABC to purify ferulic acid-contaminated aqueous solutions was compared with that of commercial activated carbon (AC). Batch adsorption experiments indicated that the ABC sorbent showed efficient ferulic acid adsorption. At pH 7.0, ferulic acid adsorption on BC and ABC followed the Freundlich model, and the Langmuir maximum adsorption capacities of ferulic acid on AC, BC, and ABC were 19.48, 83.15, and 129.7 mg-g-1, respectively. Isotherm experiments were conducted, and the calculated AG° and AH() values suggested that the adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic. A possible sorption mechanism involving physisorption, accompanied by a certain degree of chemisorption, was proposed. Physisorption occurred via common hydrogen bonding and k-k dispersive interactions, while chemisorption occurred via chemical bonding with phenolic groups.
