  • 摘要:Silva FF, Souza RA, Costa RP, Carvalho WRG, Jerônimo DP, Miranda H, Silveira Júnior L. Heart Rate Responses During and After the Practice of Capoeira: A Brazilian Art Form – Part II. JEPonline 2013;16(2):112-116. Capoeira is a Brazilian art form that combines elements of dance, sports, and martial art. This study analyzed heart rate (HR) responses during and after the practice of three main rhythms of capoeira: Angola, Banguela, and São Bento. Thirty subjects participated in this study. They were enrolled in an advanced capoeira class. Before the tests, the subjects rested for 10 min to ensure basal values regarding the HR. Subjects in pairs were randomly assigned to the rhythms Angola, Banguela, and São Bento with a 1 wk interval between the tests. Each rhythm had duration of 3 min. All subjects were encouraged to develop their maximum performance during the test. Heart rate was determined during and after the physical activity. The findings indicate that Angola should be the preferable activity for health promotion. Given the high cardiovascular intensity, Banguela and São Bento rhythms should be used with caution.
