JEPonline 2014;17 (5):58-64. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between heart rate variability threshold (HRVT) and vagal reactivation in 11 subjects (aged 24.8 ± 4.4; body weight 76.1 ± 10.9 kg). Each subject completed a graded exercise test on a cycle ergometer in order to identify the HRVT. Then, after a minimum of 72 hrs, each subject completed 5 min of exercise at 50% of the maximum load obtained during the incremental test, which was followed by 5 min of recovery in supine position. Pearson's correlation (P≤0.05) was performed to verify the interaction between the HRVT and the vagal reactivation. All statistical analyses were performed by using the SPSS 20 software. A weak correlation (r = 0.47; P = 0.187) was found between the HRVT and the vagal reactivation. Post-exercise vagal reactivation is not exclusively associated with higher vagal modulation during the exercise.
