摘要:It is study of qualitative approach carried through a Health Unit in Curitiba city - Brazil, from August to December 2005. The objective was to characterize the families and its children exposed to the HIV virus, users of a public health service. The data was collected from 168 records of positive HIV pregnant attended by the health center. The ethical aspects had been respected according to resolution 196/96. The analysis of the data showed that the majority of pregnant, lives in peripheries presents low education, are between 14 and 30 years old, experiencing an exposition to the virus and infection during the adolescence and youth. The HIV diagnosis was informed before or during the prenatal consultation. The kind of exposure to HIV virus was sexual and sanguine, and the pregnant followed the prenatal protocols during the gestation in order to prevent the vertical transmission. The majority of children received the prophylaxis necessary to prevent the vertical transmission.
