摘要:This article is the result of a study on institutions and/or programs which seek to prevent domestic violence in the town of Itajaí. The study focuses on domestic violence, considering it as a theme which requires specialized qualification of the service network, and special priority in public policies, to break the chain of violence in families. Considering the subject as public health issue, our objective was to map the institutions and /or programs which act in primary prevention of domestic violence. The methodology used in this study was of the qualitative type, with techniques of an exploratory nature and bibliographic, documentary and field research. To analyze the field data, which was gathered by means of semi-structured interviews, the technique of Discourse of the Collective Subject was used, in order to discover the nature of the activities carried out at the level of understanding of the professionals involved in the prevention of domestic violence. As a result, a map was obtained, of the institutions which carry out primary prevention, and of these, it was decided to carry out the field work in those which carry out these functions as part of their action policy. The discourses analyzed also demonstrate that the meaning of primary prevention, according to the relevant literature, is not fully understood by the participants in the process. However, many of the activities carried out fit perfectly with the model of preventative action discussed by Minayo and other researchers in the area.
