摘要:There is a constant concern among Universities to review concepts, with the aim of reaching the goal of providing quality education with the indispensable contribution of research and extension activities, practicing these activities in such a way that one cannot be disassociated from the other. To meet this challenge, we are called to adopt a critical and reflexive stance, seeking new forms of carrying out research and extension activities which are linked to the political and pedagogical projects of the programs. At the Center for Health Sciences, we have successfully integrated teaching with interdisciplinary practices geared towards promoting the health of families living in the area surrounding the University, through a project of integration between programs, which includes activities of research and extension among families that are linked to the graduate teaching programs, with the aim of providing a differential for a training that is critical, citizenship-oriented, ethical, and committed to the principles of the SUS (Brazilian National Health Service). The activities are based on the needs felt by the families, and incorporate the principles of promoting local and regional development, respect for the autonomy of communities and inter-institutional cooperation.
