摘要：The general purpose of the present study was to explore the socioeconomic and cultural context of adolescentslife styles and at the same time, understand, describe, and analyze either similarities and differences affecting the lives of two culturally distinct groupings living in the city of São Paulo, Brazil : One was composed by a low income community adolescents and the other was constituted by adolescents participants of a Scout Movement, mainly constituted by Japanese descendants. Leiningers Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality (1991) and the ethnonursing research method were adopted as theoretical and methodological study referents. The following themes and subthemes were seen to emerge : Careful attention and determination to keep the mind from wandering and Freedom and defiance, in the group (A) Preparing to achieve professional success and attain happiness and Trying to live with freedom while provided by family support in (B). Findings evidenced the strong influence of the socioeconomic and cultural context which determine significant differences concerning those adolescentslife styles studied within both domains and the importance of contextualizing and considering those differences in their health care.
