  • 摘要:The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Spirulinaplatensis (SP) on liver injury induced by exposure to y-radiation (Rad), carbon tetrachloride (CCL4) and both Rad+CCL4 in male albino rats Sprague Dawley. Exposure to either y-radiation or CCl4 induced significant increases in the levels of liver carboxylesterase (CE) and myloperoxidase (MPO) activities, malondialdehyde (MDA), and interleukin-ip (IL-ip) contents, also, DNA fragmentation % as well as, a significant elevation of serum C-reactive protein (CRP), hyaluronic acid (HA) contents, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) activities, with concomitant damage in liver architecture. Moreover, exposure to Rad+CCl4 has potentiated the severity of liver injury. SP treatment has significantly reduced the severity of liver injury substantiated by significant improvement in the biochemical and histopathological changes. It could be concluded that Spirulina platensis interference with radical-mediated cell death and inflammation would protect liver tissues from CCL4 and y-radiation-induced hepatotoxicity.
