摘要：The nation-building process in East Timor allows a context of multiple discourses on modernization, the most pervasive of them concerns to gender narratives and is organized by sectors of the indigenous elite in alliance with international organizations. Based on the ideology of gender equality, this discourse creates a new morality for acts of use of the force into the family. The article discusses the role of international cooperation in the building of those descourses based on a case-study, the conflicts which emerge when elements from an internationalized arena and local practices and values are entwined.Key-words: Gener, justice, domestic violence, law, conflict resolution.
