摘要：The paper analyses the policy guide-lines towards the care of the elderly in Portugal and in some European countries. It is centered on the construction of the policy of care and how it integrates what care means and who the carers are, focusing on the feminine component of this task. It identifies some political patterns in the area integrated in the models of the welfare state.Key-words: Women, care, elderly people, welfare state.
