摘要：This paper aims to present and analyze the academic literature on the topic of the quality of basic education, published in Brazil in the period 1995-2012. For a systematic and qualitative organization of references investigated, we chose to perform a survey of theses, dissertations, and articles querying the electronic sites Capes, Scielo and Anped. 182 studies were analyzed by source of publication, year, research institution, geographic region linking authors, area of concentration, location research and quality indicators discussed. In most publications the focus given on the discussion of the quality of education is linked to the flow and the educational performance of students in the large-scale assessments and emphasis on management and the organization of the school works. Some works are explicit the importance of the concept of quality education relate to the purposes to which education is designed. Other works punctuate the material conditions of school; valorization of the workers in education; management and organization of the pedagogical work within the school, as well as adequate resources that consolidate to the desired quality of education.
