摘要：Through the analysis of an anonymous Memorandum addressed to the Count-Duke of Olivares, this article studies the religious arguments that were used for the reform of the Purity of blood statutes. The main message is that these statutes conflicted with Evangelical doctrine, prevented the exercise of charity and would be a source of sin. The final result was that they were dividing and weakening the authority of the Catholic Monarchy. For these reasons, it was necessary to reform the statutes.
