摘要:AbstractCompensator design in frequency domain is usually an involved and time consuming task owing to the number of iterations required to meet design specifications. The task becomes more cumbersome as the number of design parameters increases. Further, the resulting design may not be optimal. Addressing these issues, genetic algorithm is used for optimizing compensator parameters to meet prescribed design specifications. The approach uses the search capability of evolutionary algorithms to optimally place the poles and zeros of the compensator. It is shown that the proposed approach offers better stability margins in comparison with the classical method for an unstable servo plant. Further, it is shown that the design iteration time is significantly less when compared to the classical approach.
