摘要：En este artículo se exponen las dinámicas en torno al sistema de protección familiar en la ciudad de New York, a partir de la expe- riencia del autor en una de las agencias de servicios sociales de esta ciudad. Esta labor profesional permitió identificar fenómenos como el multiculturalismo, la diversidad demográfica y las formas en que los jóvenes neoyorkinos asimilan el territorio urbano, como elementos de contexto que inciden en la intervención con familias
