摘要：Este artigo é parte do projeto de pós-doutoramento que desenvolvemos na Universidade de Lisboa, com apoio financeiro do CNPq, cujo objetivo foi o de compreender o processo de organização da educação, no Brasil e em Portugal, bem como analisar as ações adotadas pelos respectivos Estados e pela Igreja Católica, além das intenções político-ideológicas dessas instâncias promotoras da escolarização. Como resultado observa-se aredefinição nas estratégias das autoridades públicas e religiosas no período de luta pela redemocratização nos dois países; nota-se um pluralismo dos católicos na assunção das preferências ideológicas e partidárias em condições de concorrência eleitoral.
其他摘要：This article is part of a post-doctoral project that developed at the University of Lisbon, with financial support from the CNPq, with the aim of understanding the process of organizing education in Brazil and Portugal, as well as analyze the actions taken by the respective States and the Catholic Church, in addition to political and ideological intentions of these instances of promoting education. As a result there is the redefinition of strategies in public and religious authorities in the period of struggle for re in the two countries, there is a plurality of Catholics in the assumption of ideological and partisan preferences in a competitive election.
