JEPonline 2018;21(4):100-111. The aimof this study was to investigate the relationship between regularphysical activity practice with Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) enzymeactivity and the presence of cardiometabolic factors in active andinsufficiently active eutrophic adolescents. A total of 34 subjectsbetween 11 and 17 yrs of age (mean, 13.85 ± 1.77) were allocatedinto 2 groups according to their physical activity history: Active (AG),n=20, ≥300 min·wk-1and Insufficiently Active (IAG), n=14, <300min·wk-1. The BChE concentrations were measured and data onphysical fitness and biochemical variables were obtained andanalyzed using statistical significance set at P≤0.05. There was nodifference between the both groups in screen time (X2= 2.25,P=0.13). There were differences in percentage of fat (%F), fat inkilograms (Fkg), and percentage of lean mass (%LM) in subjectswho were physically more active. Butyrylcholinesterase showed nochange in the eutrophic subjects, but we emphasize the importanceof regular physical activity to minimize the health risks of a lesshealthy lifestyle.
