摘要:AbstractAutomation is increasingly being employed in the life sciences. New control problems are arising as a result, few with simple off-the-shelf solutions. This paper discusses some of the scheduling and control problems associated with automation in synthetic biology. It specifically focuses on the challenges associated with robotics, drawing heavily from our own experiences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. No solution are presented and only the problems discussed. The goal is to motivate research in the process systems engineering community to solve problems in this new field.
