摘要:AbstractThis work is meant to provide a multidimensional framework for an overall assessment of the growing impact of education as a strategic dimension for the knowledge-based economy in a globalized scenario. We interpret the performance of Euro area countries through a multiple regression where the GDP growth is a function of indices which summarize four main domains of globalization, i.e. economic integration, social awareness, technological potential, education. These indices (principal components) come out from a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) conducted on a database of 18 selected variables. The time period under investigation is the decade across the new millennium (1996-2006).
