摘要：We are very glad to issue the papers from the Sixth International Conference onCity Logistics which took place on 30 June - 2 July in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Urbanfreight transport has become an important issue in urban planning. There are manychallenges and problems relating to increasing levels of traffic congestion,environmental impacts and energy conservation. In addition, freight carriers areexpected to provide higher levels of service with lower costs. To address thesecomplicated and difficult problems, numerous city logistics schemes have beenproposed and implemented in several cities, including: cooperative freight transportsystems, advanced information systems, public freight terminals and the regulationof load factors. City logistics schemes are relatively new options that are aimedincreasing the efficiency of urban freight transport systems as well reducing trafficcongestion and impacts on the environment. However, new modelling, evaluationand planning techniques are required to conduct in-depth investigations before citylogistics schemes can be effectively deployed.
